On December 8, 2024, in Germany, a Chinese international student shared a humorous moment online while testing a so-called “merciless bread-slicing machine.”

Wearing transparent gloves, she placed a loaf of bread into the sleek, high-tech device, setting it to slice at 8mm—the thinnest option available.

However, the machine’s performance fell far short of expectations. Instead of evenly sliced pieces, the bread emerged with wildly inconsistent sizes, with some slices significantly thicker or thinner than intended.
