Police have arrested six individuals, including a cop, during a gang fight in India.

Dramatic footage shows the brawl in the streets after a brawl erupted at Crystal Cafe in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, where two groups wielded sticks on Monday, December 16, around 10:30 pm.

Authorities reported that a firearm was discharged into the air. A property, including an SUV, was damaged during the chaos.

The suspects were named by police as Surendra Baisla, 45, Anil Kumar, 31, Hemant Bhati, 23, Akash Bhati, 26, Anand Singh, 28, and Sonu Kumar, 27, a head constable with the Delhi Police assigned to Shastri Park.

Anil is a gym coach, while Akash is a mechanical engineer and the son of a former councillor.

Police reports stated that Sonu and his nephew Surendra were at the bistro celebrating the birthday of their friend Anil. Anand, who was also at the place with Akash, objected to a song performed by Sonu during the party that referenced the Gurjar caste.

An argument ensued when Anand played a counter-song that referenced the Thakur caste.

The situation escalated quickly, with the groups breaking the diner's glass and seats before spilling outside.

Law enforcement is currently searching for the restaurant owner following the recovery of the firearm used to discharge a shot.

Officials confirmed that the coffeehouse had been operating illegally, having been closed six months ago for lacking proper government authorisation.

Despite reopening just a week ago, it is now facing a new prohibition, as mentioned by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Trans-Hindon) Nimish Patil.

Anand has a history of assault charges and was involved in a violent altercation six months ago over a parking dispute near the border between Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.

The police have filed a complaint under various sections of the BNS, including rioting, rioting with lethal weapons, illegal assembly, and mischief causing damage.

Patil stated that efforts are underway to identify other individuals who are currently absconding through CCTV footage.

Caste songs in India are a significant cultural phenomenon, expressing the experiences, struggles, and identities of various caste groups, particularly those from marginalised and oppressed communities. These songs often reflect pride, resistance, or social commentary.
