Terrified passengers screamed as a train came off the tracks in Indonesia.

The Purwojaya service, travelling from Gambir to Kroya, left the rails while passing through Kedunggedeh Station yard in Bekasi Regency, West Java Province, on Saturday afternoon, October 25.

Footage shows two rear carriages derailing and coming to a stop, nearly toppling over.

Another clip taken from inside the locomotive captures stunned commuters as the train suddenly halted and lurched to one side.

Ixfan Hendriwintoko, Public Relations Manager of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), Operational Area 1 Jakarta, confirmed that no passengers were injured.

The evacuation began immediately after the derailment, with PT KAI deploying heavy machinery - including two cranes - to speed up the operation.

Officials said the evacuation of the entire Purwojaya train was completed on Sunday at around 2 am local time.

The two derailed carriages were successfully lifted and repositioned on the tracks. In addition to the cranes, a rescue train was also deployed to assist with the operation.

Once the evacuation was complete, KAI engineers carried out immediate track repairs to ensure passenger safety. The disruption led to the cancellation of eight long-distance train services.

Ixfan said: 'All passengers on the Purwojaya train are safe. We extend our deepest apologies to customers whose journeys were affected.'

A technical inspection of the railway infrastructure and rolling stock is underway to determine the cause of the incident.
