Local officials have been quick to distance themselves from this footage showing a stripper dancing suggestively at a packed police party in Mexico.

Reports said the video was filmed in Cordoba, Veracruz, on December 17.

The provocative clip shows a young woman, reportedly a stripper, dancing while wearing a red Father Christmas hat and matching red lingerie.

She gyrates in front of alleged police officers seated at long tables on either side of her.

Local media reported Mayor Juan Martinez Flores organised the show.

However, in the face of mounting criticism, the Municipal Police issued a statement distancing itself from the hiring of the dancer.

Lieutenant Enrique Morales Tolentino, Director of Security and Citizen Protection for the Municipality of Cordoba, confirmed he was aware of the video and stated that the officers under his command had no involvement in the incident.

He said: 'In this regard, it is reported that the event was not organised by the aforementioned municipal authorities and no personnel from the Municipal Police Coordination nor personnel from the SEMAR (Secretariat of the Navy) assigned to Public Security functions, belonging to this Directorate, participated in said celebration.'
