High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, UK - Recent Food banks across the UK are facing unprecedented pressure this winter with demand reaching near-record levels as more and more families struggle with the continuing cost-of-living crisis. Winter is peak time for food banks with the colder weather and associated energy bills adding more strain as many people are already struggling with tight finances. One charitable group looking to offer a helping hand is the 'One Can Trust' organization, which reaches 500 people a week in south Buckinghamshire just outside London. Staff at the non-governmental organization (NGO) are working hard to ensure no-one misses out on meals, while generous local people have also played their part by making much-needed donations. On top of the valuable community donations, a team of volunteers are busy packing parcels which aim to meet a variety of needs and dietary requirements. The economic woes in the UK have plunged many into financial hardship and with more people facing insecure incomes with low and stagnant wages, more are being forced to turn to food backs to alleviate the pressure. Painting a bleak national picture, Britain's largest food bank network ,the Trussell Trust, distributed more than 1.4 million emergency food parcels in the past six months alone. Campaigners say this level of food poverty can't continue and many are urging for greater action to be taken to address the growing problem. Despite the difficulties, food banks are trying their best to add some festive items to their parcels in a bid to lift the mood as Christmas approaches.
