Teacher decorates classroom with DIY Christmas tree made from scrap paper
A teacher made a DIY Christmas tree with coloured paper to decorate her classroom.
Footage shows Reychell Ann Gohilde Picorro using a hot glue stick to put together the shades of cut and folded green paper onto the cardboard base she made in Masbate, the Philippines.
Reychell used easily available materials at school to make the decor with the help of her pupils.
The paper sheets served as the leaf of the makeshift tree, with a harder board in the middle as the branch.
Reychell said: 'We started decorating the rooms so the children could feel Christmas spirit.
'I was thinking about what I could use for the decorations and then I saw an old box from a television set donated to us.
'We have a limited budget, so I decided to use what was already in the classroom, using layers of green-coloured paper to make it into a tree.'
Christmas is deeply rooted in Filipino culture, primarily due to its strong Catholic influence introduced by Spanish missionaries in the 16th century. It quickly became the dominant religion in the country.
