SOUNDBITE (English): JEFFREY GREENE, Chairman of Sino-American Aviation Heritage Foundation
"It doesn't matter what school they are in, they are just American students in the program and Chinese students in the program. Our Flying Tigers Friendship School (and Young Leaders) Program is a community and we are linking specific schools with specific schools in both countries. Our MoU is a very good starting point. It is a community of schools in both countries. It can grow in any number of ways, but again, it will always be based on Flying Tigers (Fei Hu Dui). Because again, that's something it doesn't change."
The foundation initiated the Flying Tigers Friendship School and Young Leaders Program in 2022 to promote the spirit of the Flying Tigers among Chinese and American students and deepen mutual respect and cooperation.
To date, the program has partnered with about 60 schools across China.
The Flying Tigers, officially known as the American Volunteer Group of the Chinese Air Force, was formed in 1941 by U.S. General Claire Lee Chennault.
They came to China to help Chinese people fight the invading Japanese troops.
