This is the terrifying moment tourists fell from a safari jeep in front of a rhino in India.

A mother and daughter were caught in a dangerous situation when their vehicle came across a herd of enraged rhinos in Kaziranga National Park in Assam on January 6.

Shocking footage shows the duo falling to the ground as the animal runs off.

The daughter's panicked screams can be heard immediately after the fall, as her mother quickly grabs her and helps her to her feet before leading her toward their vehicle.

In a strategic move, another driver reverses the jeep to attract the attention of the rhino, which had begun to chase the pair.

However, the beast changes its course upon seeing the safari vehicle reversing, maintaining a safe distance.

Another driver then approaches the pair to transport them to safety in a jeep, preventing a potential disaster.

Fortunately, the mother and daughter were unharmed after their encounter with the rhinos, though they sustained minor scratches from the tumble.

Concerns have been raised by adventure enthusiasts regarding the safety of tourists on guided excursions in light of disturbing footage that has recently surfaced.

Rhinos are generally gentle and keep to themselves, but they will charge if they feel threatened. They may also fight each other, with about 50 per cent of males and 30 per cent of females dying from combat-related injuries.
