SOUNDBITE (Arabic): ASHHAD SLAIBI, Head of Syria's civil aviation authority commission
"Today's development will alleviate the hardships faced by our Syrian citizens, who previously had to travel through other regional airports due to the suspension of flights from Damascus and Aleppo. This situation led to additional costs for the people. However, with this new progress, Syrians can now use Damascus International Airport and, in the coming days, Aleppo International Airport as well."

Xinhua News Agency correspondents reporting from Damascus.
