Germany: Performer Scotty the Blue Bunny Speaks Out on Israel-Hamas War at Berlin Protest
Berlin, Germany - January 08, 2025 Scott Grabell, better known by his stage persona Scotty the Blue Bunny, is a familiar face on cabaret stages worldwide. From the glittering lights of Las Vegas to the bohemian cabarets of Berlin, Grabell's mix of bouffon spectacle, music, and acrobatic antics has made him a unique figure in the international performance scene. But on January 8, 2025, Grabell's presence at Berlin's Potsdamer Platz wasn't about entertainment. The performer joined the ongoing protests surrounding the Israel-Hamas war - standing at the intersection of pro-Israel and pro-Palestinian demonstrations. He held two handmade signs, one reading “Noch ein Jude für ein freies Palaestina” ("Another Jew for a Free Palestine") and another stating “Bitte die Zios nicht fuettern” ("Please Don’t Feed the Zionists"). In an interview, Grabell said he felt compelled to use his voice and platform to speak out against what he called "Zionist oppression" in Germany and abroad. "I'm here to stand up for a free Palestine," Grabell said. "The German government doesn't talk about people like me - Jews who are against Zionism. I'm here to honor my ancestors and my family who survived the Holocaust by standing against any form of genocide." Grabell criticized the pro-Israel demonstrators at the protest, describing them as "Zionist supporters" who, in his view, contribute to maintaining a white supremacist power structure. "The hostages in Gaza are people, too," he said. "We want them home as well. The whole situation must be resolved - but not just in a way that favors one side.
