Cottonwood Canyons, United States - January 11, 2025 As a snowstorm continues to pummel the Cottonwood Canyons, road conditions on SR-210 and SR-190 are rapidly deteriorating, with heavy slush at lower elevations and snow-covered roads in higher areas. The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is warning drivers to prepare for slick spots, low visibility, and high winds. Traction devices are now required, and travelers are advised to exercise extreme caution, especially in steeper areas and around corners. The storm is expected to bring 5-9 inches of snow to upper canyons and 3-5 inches to lower elevations by 6 p.m. today. UDOT also urges drivers to have winter driving skills and well-prepared vehicles, recommending those without experience to carpool or take the RideUTA ski bus instead. Snowbird, Brighton Resort, and Solitude Mountain have all issued alerts, advising caution on the roads as snow continues to fall throughout the day and into the evening. With a high volume of traffic heading up both canyons this morning, delays are anticipated. Travelers are advised to adjust their plans accordingly and expect continued snow showers overnight with additional road snow accumulation.
