This is the amusing moment a Guinea pig family waddled along a lengthy makeshift walkway.

Dozens of adorable domestic cavies trotted along a wooden bridge toward their enclosure at Just Pets Megastore, the largest indoor petting zoo in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, on December 28.

Amusing animal footage shows the animals walking in a line along the maze-like structure while being guided by zookeepers.

A raccoon inside a nearby glass enclosure can be seen curiously peeking at the rodents.

One of the staff members said: 'We have a Guinea Pigs Bridge Show every afternoon here in the mall for free.

'We want our animals to wander around the bridge not just for entertainment, but also as a form of exercise. We ensure their health and well-being are well taken care of,' she added.

Studies show that Guinea pigs naturally walk around as they are prey animals with an instinct to explore their environment, forage for food, and stay alert for potential threats.

This gives them a strong urge to move around and investigate their surroundings, especially when they are feeling happy and active. This behaviour is further amplified by their playful nature and the need for exercise.
