This footage shows two men being rescued from the roof of their SUV by a pensioner with a boat after the car shot off the path they were driving on and ended up in a pond.

The video, filmed in Jiangsu, China, on January 14, shows a scooter going around a bend on a path next to the pond before the SUV suddenly appears.

It shoots straight off the path at speed and lands in the water, with the video then showing two men climbing out of the vehicle and onto its roof.

An elderly man, reportedly 73 years old, then makes his way towards them in a boat and rescues them from the roof of the floating car.

Local media reports said that the driver has been named as Xiao Sun and the OAP has been named as Bao Bingyun.

Bao told local media: 'Since I saw it, I definitely couldn't stand idly by. My boat also played a big role this time.'

Neither of the men in the SUV were injured.
