This is the remarkable moment an injured protected wild goat remained incredibly calm as rescuers bandaged its leg.

Dramatic footage shows two police officers holding the farm animal by its large horns while a third carefully wraps a bandage around its wounded front right leg, with the goat staying surprisingly calm throughout the process.

The incident occurred in Altay Prefecture, Northern Xinjiang, China, on Tuesday, January 14.

The rescue operation was carried out by officers from the Taxkorgan Port Border Police Station, part of the Altay Border Management Branch of the Xinjiang Exit-Entry Border Inspection General Station.

Officers decided to intervene after discovering the goat was a protected species, identified as a northern goat by local media.

The creature was placed in the back of a truck and handed over to wildlife professionals for further treatment.
