West Bank - January 22, 2025 Israeli military operations in the Jenin area of the West Bank have left at least 10 Palestinians dead and nearly 40 injured, with eyewitnesses describing dire conditions as emergency services struggled to operate. The three-day operation, involving airstrikes, drones, bulldozers, and heavy troop deployment, targeted Jenin city and its refugee camp, the official WAFA news agency reported on Thursday. The Palestinian health ministry confirmed the casualty figures. Bulldozers destroyed the main road leading to Jenin Governmental Hospital, blocking its entrances with dirt mounds and making it nearly impossible to transport wounded residents, WAFA reported. Eyewitnesses shared harrowing accounts of blocked roads and halted emergency services during interviews with China Global Television Network (CGTN) on Wednesday, revealing the human toll of the military operation. Emergency responders also faced immense challenges in navigating the area and assisting the wounded. Inside Jenin Hospital, conditions were described as desperate, with both patients and staff struggling to cope. Shotlist: Jenin, West Bank - Jan 22, 2025: 1. Various of residents with personal belongings, walking down rough road; 2. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Adel Al-Bashar, resident at Jenin Camp (partially overlaid with shot 3/ending with shot 4): "Life is harder than you can imagine. The roads are blocked with dirt and stones. The ambulance can't get there, nor can the fire engines. My house is close by, but I can't get there, because the army is nearby, and there is a sniper. Anyone who gets too close is exposed to being shot, even doctors. For example, there are two doctors being treated in Amal Hospital right now. No one knows anything as the communication is cut off. It's really a difficult situation."; [SHOT OVERLAYING SOUNDBITE] 3. Various of ambulances driving on rough road; [SHOT OVERLAYING SOUNDBITE] 4. Israeli military vehicles; 5. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Hazem Masarweh, ambulance officer (starting with shot 6/ending with shot 8): "At first we were not allowed to enter the hospital. After a while, the ambulance crews were allowed to enter to deliver the patients, but the patients inside, whose treatment was finished, were not allowed to leave. We dealt with many injuries. Some injuries were very serious, while others were in hot places and we couldn't reach them on time. Another patient was detained by the Israelis and his fate we do not know. Entry to Jenin Hospital was not allowed as I said before, because the Israeli army used vehicles and sandbags to block the entrance, but later on it was opened."; 8. Various of military vehicles, bulldozers moving in line; Israeli flags; ambulance waiting; 9. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Mohammed Al-Amer, doctor, Jenin Hospital (ending with shot 10): "The situation inside Jenin Hospital is like a prison. Patients and companions are prisoners inside. For example, patients with kidney failure who need to come to the hospital on daily basis can't go home after daily treatment. There is very little food. The medicine is about to run out, and we had to give only one dose of medicine for each person. I have been at work for 36 hours, I couldn't get any sleep, and now they said they are going to replace us with another crew."; 10.
