A pet dog was seen curled up and sleeping on his owner's gravestone in a touching display of loyalty.

Footage shows the brown Aspin pooch resting on the tombstone, seemingly missing his departed master.

He did not leave nor make a noise even when strangers arrived in the area to visit their loved one in Misamis Occidental, the Philippines on January 24.

Onlooker Fritzie Hazel Maligon said: 'We felt sorry for him. He missed his owner so much. The whole time we were there, the dog did not move from that spot.'

Fritzie Hazel added they tried to give him food but he ignored them.

She added: 'We left before evening and the dog remained in the spot. He appeared to be waiting for his owner.'

In Penang, Malaysia, a dog that regularly sat on the grave of its owner was immortalised into into stunning white marble sculpture.

Andrew Duncan passed away in the former British Crown Colony but his loyal pooch would lay on the grave, so when the dog died, locals paid for a marble carving of the pooch to be added to the gravestone at the Western Road Cemetery.
