Ghaziabad, India - February 01, 2025 A massive fire erupted early Saturday after a truck carrying 360 LPG cylinders caught fire, triggering a series of powerful explosions heard up to six kilometers away. The incident took place at Bhopura Chowk on Delhi-Wazirabad Road of Ghaziabad district, Uttar Pradesh, northern India on February 1. Visuals show a massive fire engulfing the truck while loud blasts continued. Residents are seen panicked as exploding cylinders are thrown into the air due to the force of the blasts. Speaking to Newslions, the fire station officer of Sahibabad said, the fire was first reported at 4:30 am, and within minutes, it spread rapidly to nearby structures, including a wooden godown, multiple houses, and vehicles. The fire department received an alert at 4:45 am and eight fire tenders were deployed to contain the blaze. He also added that the truck carried 360 LPG cylinders that had been caught on fire. Chief Fire Officer (CFO) Rahul Kumar confirmed that fire brigade teams were deployed, but continuous explosions made it difficult for them to approach the truck. CFO Rahul Pal later stated that the fire was completely extinguished and that no casualties had been reported. "At 4:35 am, we received information about a truck carrying LPG cylinders catching fire. Fire tenders were rushed to the spot, and police evacuated nearby houses as a precaution. The fire spread to 2-3 houses and some vehicles but has been completely doused," he said. The fire caused extensive damage to nearby shops, houses, and vehicles. A wooden godown and multiple residences caught fire. Despite the destruction, swift action by the fire department and police ensured timely evacuation, preventing any loss of life. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire, which remains unknown at this time. Further updates are awaited.
