STORYLINE:

Students at the International School of Bucharest (ISB) in Romania celebrated the Spring Festival on Friday with performances and cultural activities.

SOUNDBITE 1 (English): ZOU XUANYANG, Student at International School of Bucharest
"I believe that it's a very good way to let different cultures communicate with each other and to share our own thoughts and ideas with others in this school community. I would think that the Year of the Snake, this year 2025, is especially important, as it is the first year, (the Spring Festival) got official recognition from UNESCO. And we hope that more people can celebrate the Spring Festival or Chinese New Year with us."

The school has celebrated the Spring Festival for over a decade, making it an important tradition.

SOUNDBITE 2 (English): TANIA BUYUKLIEVA, Admissions manager of International School of Bucharest
"I would really hope that all our students, not only the Chinese students, would benefit from this activity and understand a little bit more about Chinese culture, about the Lunar New Year, and have a little bit more in common with each other all our students."

SOUNDBITE 3 (English): SERDAR SAKMAN, Principal of International School of Bucharest
"Today, we celebrate the Chinese New Year for our students. This is a great opportunity for us to celebrate Chinese New Year for our Chinese students, as well as other students, to be familiar with Chinese culture. Also, this was a great event for our students, especially Chinese students to showcase their skills. Well actually, we really value diversity. This is really important. This day represents not only these events but also the language. These are open to our students and parents. And this is a great opportunity for them to learn more about the Chinese culture and the Chinese heritage."
