The 18th National Pitha Festival, one of Bangladesh's popular winter festivities, is underway in Dhaka and will continue until Feb. 8.
The 10-day festival features various types of pithas, namely Patisapta, Bhapa, Pakan, Chitai and others along with a number of experimental dishes.
Earlier, speaking at the opening ceremony, the cultural advisor of Bangladesh's interim government, Mostafa Sarwar Farooki, emphasized the role of cultural festivals in shaping a nation's identity.
The festival also features a vibrant cultural program, including drama, recitations, dance, and musical performances. Visitors can indulge in a variety of traditional pithas, reflecting the diverse culinary artistry of Bangladesh.
The National Pitha Festival Celebration Council, in collaboration with Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and sponsored by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, has organized the flagship festival.
