China - February 05, 2025 China's shipbuilding industry charts new course with eco-friendly vessels (Voice_over) China's shipbuilding industry, buoyed by technological innovation, is turning its focus to eco-friendly vessels as the country looks to retain its position as the global shipbuilding industry leader. In 2024, China's share of green ship orders reached 78.5 percent globally, covering all major vessel types. Researchers for a subsidiary of China's State Shipbuilding Corporation say smart technology and clean energy are part of the focus. In the near future, we will launch new ship designs, including more eco-friendly vessels powered by green energy sources, such as liquid hydrogen, liquid ammonia, and liquid carbon dioxide, which will help reduce emissions and unlock new market opportunities." (Voice_over) With the global shipbuilding industry facing intensifying competition and shifting environmental regulations, Chinese shipbuilders are accelerating their technological innovation to stay ahead of the curve.
