This is the moment a police officer on horseback runs through traffic to chase an alleged drug dealer.

Bodycam footage shows the mounted unit chasing a suspect they allegedly spotted trying to hand off drugs in Jacksonville, Florida, on February 4.

The suspect, identified as Jordan Wilson, 25, continued fleeing, but officers on horseback quickly closed in, pursuing him for a quarter mile through busy streets.

Officer Cassie Haire, riding Police Service Horse Nash, can be heard urging the horse on: 'Come on. Get him, Nash! Get the bad man!'

She continued: 'Hey, get on the ground, you're going to get run over! You better stop! You're gonna get hit!'

The chase intensified as Officer Zackary Maryland and Police Service Horse Jaxx joined the pursuit, with Maryland shouting: 'Hupp Jaxx, hupp! Run him over, Jaxx!'

Wilson was eventually caught and arrested, ending his dramatic attempt to escape on foot.
