This is the heroic moment locals slide over a net to rescue a dog stuck in a frozen lake.

Dramatic footage shows one of the park workers launching a long pole with a net at the end across the ice toward the distressed canine, pulling it free from the hole in Qingdao, Shandong, China, on January 18.

The pooch takes a few seconds to recover on the ice before returning to dry land.

It is not thought to have suffered any serious injuries.

The fire department reminded people that if someone or an animal falls through the ice on a body of water, they should look for rescue equipment such as sticks, planks, or ropes.

They warned people against venturing onto thin ice and advised calling authorities immediately.
