Firefighters rescue exhausted deer stranded on frozen lake
This is the dramatic moment firefighters rescued an exhausted deer that was stranded on a frozen lake.
Fire crews from Truck 4 were called early on January 13 after Colorado Parks and Wildlife reported the injured creature trapped on the ice at Curr Reservoir near the County Club of Colorado.
The animal had fallen through the ice but managed to pull itself out, leaving it weak and unable to move far from the break.
Footage shows the crew in full ice-rescue gear carefully approaching the animal on the frozen surface.
Despite being frightened, the deer was secured in a harness and brought safely back to solid ground.
Once on land, the animal regained its strength and ran back into the surrounding wilderness.
Authorities thanked Colorado Parks and Wildlife for their assistance, noting that coordinated efforts ensured the animal was safely returned to its natural habitat.
