Ram Singh Bouddh, a 69-year-old retired government officer, has secured a place in the Guinness World Records for having the “largest collection of radios,” with 1,257 unique pieces that he amassed over fifteen years.

Ram is a resident of Gajraula town, in Amroha district in Uttar Pradesh, northern India. The visuals were shot on September 27 and 23 October 2024 and he achieved the recognition on February 13, 2025.

Visuals show a huge variety of radio collections on display from around the world. The radios are labelled with numbers and placed separately according to them. The collection showcases Ram’s love and dedication to the device. Ram is then seen with visitors watching television, proudly showing off his Guinness World Records title to everyone.

Ram shared that before developing an interest in radios, he used to collect rare books, as they were the primary medium of entertainment at that time. However, he later discovered the radio and grew fond of it by listening to it frequently. His deep interest in radios led him to collect them, determined to preserve their legacy and prevent people from discarding them.

By October 3rd, 2014, Ram had accumulated around 50 radios. On that day, he listened to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first “Mann Ki Baat” broadcast, a show where the Prime Minister discusses government initiatives and social issues. This moment made Ram realise that, even with the advent of the internet, people still valued the radio. Inspired by the speech, he was motivated to expand his collection further.

Ram managed to collect around 1,400 radios dating back to the 1920s. However, according to the guidelines of the Guinness World Records, all radios in the collection must be unique. As a result, duplicates were removed from the list. With 1,257 radios, he broke the previous record held by M Prakash, who had a collection of 625 radios. Ram Singh Bouddh is now popularly known as the "Radio Man."

In addition to well-known brands like Bush, Murphy, and Philips, Ram’s collection also includes radios made by Sony and Panasonic, among others. The most valuable item in his collection is a US Army radio made in 1920, valued at Rs 20,000 ($230.23).
