On January 25, 2025, in Heilongjiang Province, located in northeastern China, a video captured a peculiar scene at a local fish market. Among a tank full of sturgeons, one fish stood out—it was pressed flat against the glass, revealing an uncanny human-like face on its underside.

Its gills and mouth formed features resembling eyes and a grimacing expression, and as it breathed, these "facial features" moved as if the fish was squinting, frowning, or making exaggerated expressions.

The eerie yet amusing appearance left market-goers both fascinated and unsettled. Chinese netizens reacted with humor, joking that the fish looked too human to eat and wondering who would dare buy it.
