Indian wedding guests had a mass brawl when an argument over the state of the curry escalated into a fight.

The dispute began when some hungry relatives from the groom's side demanded that the dishes be served immediately.

But the bride's father, who was responsible for catering at the event, took offence at being accused of having poor culinary skills.

Two sets of relatives began arguing before the row spiralled out of control and fists were flying at he reception in the Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh, India, on February 20.

The situation escalated into a full-on brawl, with guests throwing punches, kicks, and chairs at each other.

Footage shows the unruly scene involving the out-of-control guests at the reception.

Police said that attendees were seriously injured during the altercation and had to be taken to hospital.

A case has been registered, and the officers are investigating the incident.

In traditional Indian weddings, the bride's family typically covers most expenses, including the main ceremony, reception, and bride's attire.

However, modern practices are shifting towards more equal cost-sharing between families, with some couples opting to pay for their weddings.

On July 13 last year, another wedding in India descended into chaos when a brawl erupted between the bride and groom's families over food shortage.

The conflict reportedly began when the buffet table ran out before some guests had been served.

Tensions escalated when the chicken biryani was served without meat, just rice, fueling further frustration among attendees.

Due to this, the groom's family allegedly demanded money from the bride's family to spend on food. When the bride's brother became enraged by their request, the argument turned into a physical confrontation.

The ceremony was eventually called off, and the bride was taken home before exchanging the vows.
