US, Los Angeles: Long Beach Homicide Investigation

Los Angeles, United States - February 18, 2025 02/18/2025 09:12 pm (GMT-0800) LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach Police Department Homicide detectives are investigating the murder of an adult male that occurred in the 1400 block of Locust Avenue, according to the department. LBPD officers responded to the location shortly after 9 p.m. regarding a shots fired call where they located a crime scene and evidence that a shooting had occurred, the LBPD reported in a press release. Shortly after arriving at the scene, officers were notified that someone had transported a male adult victim with gunshot wounds to a local hospital. Officers determined the victim was from the shooting incident on Locust Avenue. The LBPD identified the victim as Durell Shell, a 38-year-old resident of Long Beach, who later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. According to the LBPD, Homicide detectives believe the incident is gang-related. However, the motive for the shooting and the circumstances of the incident are currently under investigation.
