A former Thai actress was allegedly scammed out of 7,500 GBP by her British husband whom she met on a dating website.

Ladda Khunthiphok, 40, fell in love with British cruise ship musician Ian Robert Allison, 64, while chatting with him on online dating site ThaiCupid in April 2017.

The whirlwind relationship blossomed and the pair were married just a year later.

Despite Ian's work requiring him to be away, lovestruck Ladda agreed to a long-distance relationship. He reportedly visited her in Thailand just three times a year, and spent most of his time on cruise ships which are notorious breeding grounds for infidelity.

Over the years, Ian was said to have borrowed 320,000 THB (around 7,500 GBP) in total from Ladda, claiming his salary was often delayed.

However, the struggling wife, who runs a laundry and tea business to make ends meet, became suspicious after Ian allegedly grew cold towards her. He allegedly failed to reply regularly to her messages and neglected to visit her for two years.

The marital conflict reached a boiling point when Ladda received a call from a foreign woman questioning her relationship with Ian. The caller insisted she was the real wife, while Ladda also asserted she was married to him.

The disgruntled Thai former celebrity is now seeking help to bring the Brit alleged philanderer to justice.

She said: 'I am appealing to the media because I don't know where else to seek help. I don't want to take my husband back. I just want him to return to Thailand so we can settle our divorce and he can pay back the money he borrowed.

'I worked hard for that 320,000 baht. I saved it by doing all sorts of jobs, whether it was advertising, acting, being a mascot - I did any job that would earn me money, no matter how small.

'Now, I currently run a laundry shop and a tea business in the province. I would like to ask for help from a lawyer or relevant agencies with my lawsuit. I have already filed a complaint with the investigation officer at Muang Chanthaburi Police Station.'

Ladda became a local celebrity after starring in an anti-alcohol consumption advertisement in 2005. She had also appeared in several other local ads, and was also featured in the Thai movie 'Ghost-in-Law' in 2008.
