China: Elderly Man Trapped in Mud Rescued
Quzhou, China - February 24, 2025 A thrilling rescue unfolded recently in this eastern Chinese city when a man in his sixties found himself in a perilous situation after a nighttime fishing escapade went horribly wrong. The elderly adventurer, accompanied by friends, had ventured into a pond under the cover of darkness to catch fish. But what began as a daring exploit quickly turned into a fight for survival when he slipped and sank into a muddy quagmire, his body trapped below the waist and unable to move. His companions scrambled to free him, but their efforts proved futile against the thick, unrelenting sludge. With no other options, they called for help, prompting a swift response from the Quzhou Fire Department. The rescue team arrived at the scene and sprang into action, laying down a rescue board across the treacherous mud. They secured it with ropes, creating a lifeline to reach the stranded man. Working meticulously, the firefighters tied a safety rope around the trapped fisherman and began the arduous task of digging away the surrounding silt. Little by little, they loosened the mud’s grip, dragging him free and onto the rescue board. With a final coordinated pull, the team hauled him to solid ground, ending his harrowing ordeal. The man emerged shaken but alive, a testament to both human resilience and the bravery of his rescuers.
