Soldiers clear flood debris in West Virginia after heavy rains.

The Army National Guard's 601st Forward Support Company and 1092nd Engineer Battalion were deployed to McDowell County on February 18 to assist in flood recovery efforts.

Stationed near Welch Community Hospital, the troops worked to unclog drainage systems and clear debris to restore access and safety.

Floodwaters have severely impacted southern West Virginia, prompting Governor Patrick Morrisey to declare a State of Emergency in 13 counties.

The death toll in the region has risen to three.
