Car fails overtake attempt and gets pushed over 200 metres by truck in China
On February 26, on a motorway in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, a BMW attempted to force its way through a narrow gap between two vehicles to overtake. However, due to insufficient space, the BMW scraped against a large lorry during the manoeuvre. As a result of the collision, the BMW lost control and ended up sideways in front of the lorry, which continued to push it along the road. The lorry driver, upon realising what had happened, immediately took measures to slow down and move to the side, eventually coming to a stop after pushing the BMW for over 200 metres while ensuring safety.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the accident. However, the BMW sustained significant damage.
According to the traffic police investigation, the primary cause of the accident was the BMW driver's misjudgment while attempting to overtake, failing to accurately assess the available space and safe distance, leading to the collision. Additionally, the lorry driver's prolonged occupation of the fast lane may have influenced the BMW driver's overtaking decision. The exact cause is still under further investigation.
