Truckee, United States - March 07, 2025 Crews are battling to recover a vehicle on SR-89 south of Olympic Valley after a solo collision late last night saw it end in a river. The California Highway Patrol begged drivers to slow down and give them room to work safely. The storm has blown through, leaving blue skies today, but the roads are still a nightmare in spots. Shaded areas, bridges, and curves remain slick as ice, officials warned. Just yesterday, another truck crashed into a lake, a grim warning of how fast things can go wrong. Today’s river plunge drives that home. Astonishingly, all passengers in this latest wreck escaped with only minor injuries. CHP called them incredibly lucky. They’re pleading with drivers not to tempt fate. Drive for the conditions, take it slow, and stay sharp—luck won’t always save you on these deadly roads.
