US, Phoenix: Tempe SR-143 Wrong Way Crash

Phoenix, United States - July 31, 2025 07/30/2025 08:30 pm GMT-0700 TEMPE, Ariz. – Around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers and fire department personnel were called to the northbound lanes of State Route 143, just north of University Drive, to reports of a traffic collision. Troopers arrived and located a two-vehicle crash involving a Jeep and a pickup truck that both sustained extensive damage. According to information gathered at the scene, the vehicles collided head-on after one of them was traveling in the wrong direction. Troopers closed the northbound SR-143 at University Drive and diverted all traffic off the freeway. The extent of the injuries sustained by the occupants is currently unknown. It is unclear which of the two vehicles was traveling in the wrong direction.
