Exclusive- Saving turtle eggs after Cyclone Alfred's destruction
The story is about my morning fairly regular morning ritual for sunrise on my favourite beach and the damage that cyclone Alfred had done to the sand dunes exposing a turtle egg nest. I wanted to share what I found and get help to save them, which happened after speaking to other locals and contacting CoastCare. I waited for the volunteers to arrive and helped with the relocation.
Best thing I could have done saving 95 eggs and giving them the chance to hatch in a month or two. They’re close to extinction or the vulnerable list in Australia, so we need to take action.
