In the four month period of January to April, the Sea turtles lays eggs and hatched chicks is a regular habit in the coastal area. To prevent the damages of eggs and Vanishing the species of Turtles from human beings animals and birds, in coastal area of sothikuppam of Cuddalore Harbour area the forest officials have made arrangement to preserve the turtle eggs and established hatcheries. In the coastal area the turtles lays eggs which were collected and carried to hatcheries where the eggs preserved in 35 pits for 45 to 60 days. It leads to become turtle chicks hatched from Eggs. The hatched turtle chicks were carried by Forest officials and dropped in the sea. Preservation of Turtles eggs and chicks works carried out by District forest officer Mr. Rajendran and Forest Rangers Mr Abdul Hameed and Turtle preserver Mr. Chella have collected and preserved 4000 turtle eggs in Sothikuppam hatcheries. Out of 4000 eggs 223 eggs hatched into Turtle chicks and they were dropped in the sea today morning. The forest officer said that Till this date and year 1500 Turtle eggs were hatched and the same number of turtle chicks were dropped in the sea.
