Britain's Royal Marines dropped troops into Norwegian mountains in a training drill.

Royal Marines from 45 Commando carried out a dramatic troop insertion into the snow-covered Mauken mountain range as part of Exercise Reindeer 1, a segment of Operation Clockwork 25, in Bardufoss, Norway.

Footage shows two Merlin Mk4 helicopters from 845 Naval Air Squadron hovering over the rugged terrain before the elite commandos swiftly disembarked.

Their boots can be seen crunching into the snow as they moved into position, demonstrating precision and readiness in the harsh Arctic conditions.

Based at Camp Viking, the troops train extensively for extreme-weather operations. The Merlin crews expertly navigated the turbulent winds, executing the drop with pinpoint accuracy.

Operation Clockwork 25 is a long-standing cold-weather training exercise designed to test the endurance and combat readiness of Britain's forces. The latest manoeuvre highlights their capability to operate in one of the most unforgiving environments on Earth.
