A female Australian builder complained - because she wants to work topless like her male colleagues.

Sydney landscaper Shianne Foxx criticised the 'double standards' that allow men to remove their shirts on hot days, while women like her are forced to endure the heat.

Shianne, who typically wears a bikini top at work, asked her supervisor if she could remove her shirt like her male colleagues on a 40-degree Celsius day.

She said: 'It's a freaking double standard. It's sexist, and I'm actually really over it. I just want to be topless like the boys but no, I will 'distract' them.'

Shianne reiterated that working topless should not be unsettling as it is a 'natural thing'.

The employee, also a content creator on an adult website, has been working in the male-dominated construction industry for several years. Shianne expressed her satisfaction despite the low number of female workers in her industry.

She added: 'A lot of people say you get catcalled, but it's nothing like that at all.

'From my experience, if you just go in there with your head held high and if you don't let men have it over you. Stand your ground. They won't do anything.'

Some coworkers agree with her, but most women in the industry disagree.

A local tradeswoman said: 'She does not speak for us female tradies.'

Female trade workers, who already constitute a small percentage of the workforce in blue-collar jobs, face significant challenges due to their underrepresentation.

A 2023 Deloitte survey highlighted the disparity. They found that men outnumber women in many of the roles. They said that for every twelve men in the field, there is only one woman.
