A dust storm created a Martian-like scene in New Mexico.

Dramatic footage shows a dust blizzard sweeping through Deming on March 18, turning the area into a surreal, dust-filled scene.

Strong westerly winds carried dust from West Texas and the Texas Panhandle, significantly reducing visibility and affecting air quality across the region.

The intense gusts, part of a larger weather system, triggered dust storms and damaged power lines.

The blowing dust is expected to impact travel, including in Albuquerque.

Last week, numerous accidents occurred across the region amid the dust and winds, including a significant pileup on Interstate 27 south of Canyon involving dozens of vehicles.

Sergeant Cindy Barkley of the state's Department of Public Safety confirmed at least three fatalities from car crashes during the severe weather.

Authorities are urging drivers to exercise caution as cleanup and recovery efforts continue.
