A sandstorm engulfed buildings in Saudi Arabia significantly reducing visibility.

Footage captured by Saleh Al-Jathnan shows the intensity of the freak weather, with a McDonald's sign barely visible through thick clouds of sand in Dammam on Monday, April 14.

The Saudi National Center for Meteorology (NCM) reported that as the country transitions into the spring season, various regions are experiencing thunderstorms, sandstorms, and fluctuating temperatures.

Authorities have advised residents to remain indoors, particularly individuals with respiratory conditions or other health vulnerabilities.

Dust storms are caused by a combination of drought and strong winds. The gusts blow across dry surfaces and whip up dust and dirt in the air.
