Watch as thugs write off mans £50,000 Mercedes in horror attack at his home
This shocking video shows two thugs setting alight a businessman's £50,000 Mercedes - while he was at home with his children.
Two criminals entered the front driveway of the home of Tom Donohue, 30, and lit his white Mercedes S-Class on fire, writing it off.
They were also filmed smashing the front left window of his red Range Rover Sport.
During the suspected arson attack on March 17 at 5.24am Tom was asleep along with his three children Lilly-Rae, 4, Poppy-Mae, 7, Oliver, 8, who suffers from autism, at his home in Upton Road in Bidston, Wirral, in Merseyside.
Luckily nobody was injured but Tom described the attacks as "terrifying"."
Earlier that evening, at round 9pm, two thugs also severely damage his milkshake shop, Frozen Moments, by throwing a brick which smashed through the front window whilst customers were still inside.
Mr Donohue, who has been staying at a hotel for his own safety since the attack, said: "I've got no idea who could have done this or what their reasons are for doing. "
"I have never been in trouble with the police for anything."
Mr Donohue employs 150 people across seven business he owns in the Wirral, which include several care homes.
It cost the Mr Donohue almost £2,000 to replace the milkshake shop window.
Recalling the nights events he said: " I was awoken by the hacking on the window of the Range Rover."
"I got out off bed saw what was happening so I started shouting at them through my bedroom window which was when they fled the scene."
Mr Donohue said one of the criminals quickly returned to his house attempting to throw a brick through his front window, which is used as a playroom for his children.
He said: "Luckily it hit plastic at the top and not the window as if it had the fire could have gotten into the house which would have been devastating." "
Mr Donohue said he couldn't "think of anyone" who would want to target his house and business - stating "it's bizarre"."
The businessman posted an appeal on his Facebook page following the incident.
One resident responded saying: "People can't have anything nice nowadays, the world's gone mad."
Another said: "Oh my god I'm so sorry this happened to you and your property."
"I hope you find them ASAP." "
Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service attended the incident where one fire engine was sent to the scene.
On arrival firefighters found one vehicle on fire in the driveway of the property which was extinguished before leaving at 6.56am.
Merseyside Police said an investigation is underway and CCTV and witness enquiries are in the process of being carried out following the incident on Monday morning.
Detective Inspector Peter Rexwinkel said: "It is believed two males were seen on a scooter in the area at the time of the incident and enquiries are ongoing to trace them."
"We are appealing for anyone in the area of Upton Road who saw or heard anything suspicious or believe they captured something significant on a doorbell camera or CCTV camera to contact us."
