A Tesla was reportedly set on fire in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighbourhood on Thursday (13 March).

The car appeared to have been targeted at the front bonnet end of the vehicle, resulting in a scorch mark and damage to the interior plastic.

A firefighter at the scene said: "As far as I know, somebody lit it on fire and we put it out. Allegedly somebody saw a suspect throw gas on it but we weren't here to witness it personally."

The incident follows shocking scenes of anti-Tesla protests in America this week, with Washington state seeing protests and vandalism targeting Tesla facilities and vehicles.

Earlier this week, several Tesla vehicles parked at public charging stations in the Seattle area were reportedly vandalised, while a Tesla charger station in Centralia was defaced with graffiti, including anti-Elon Musk messages and political slogans including "Burn Nazi Cars, Kill Elon."
