A hapless buffalo was rescued by firemen after getting its head stuck in a tyre.

The clumsy bull was believed to have charged at a tire swing while grazing in a field in Phatthalung province in southern Thailand, on March 25.

Farmer Suchart Nookong, 68, said he returned to the pasture to collect his animals when he found the bovine's head lodged in the rubber wheel.

He called firefighters for help, and the officers arrived to remove the object. Footage shows how they tried to pull the tire off of the buffalo's head. When it proved too tight, they used cutters and snipped through the thick rubber tread.

Rescue volunteer Somrit Chuklin said: 'I've had experience using these cutting tools to rescue people trapped in cars. However, this is the first time I've been called to rescue a cow instead.'
