This is the heartwarming moment a female stray dog was rescued after her head was trapped in a car tyre.

The pooch named E-Noi was found with her head lodged in a wheel drum in Prachinburi province, eastern Thailand, on April 1.

Residents spotted the distressed canine struggling to free herself and alerted an animal rescue team. They kept her hydrated and tried to comfort her as they waited for help.

The volunteers arrived at the scene at around 12 noon, and found the hapless stray panting from exhaustion with her tongue and chin swollen from the ordeal.

Footage shows the specialists cutting the wheel with a circular saw. After 15 painstaking minutes, they managed to widen the gap just enough to allow E-Noi to pull her head free.

Resident Theeradet Phutsa, 56, said he had heard a dog crying at around 2 am.

He said: 'At around 6 am, I went outside and saw that a dog had its head was stuck in the car's wheel rim. It was barking, almost as if it was asking for help. I took it to the front of my house and called the rescue volunteers because I didn't know how to help it.

'At first, I considered taking it to the vet, but I don't they would have had tools to remove its head from the wheel, so I called the volunteers instead. The dog is a stray that has been living around my house for a year or two.'

Volunteer Chokchai Phothung, 37, said the rescue took longer than expected as the officers had to be careful to avoid injuring E-Noi with the saw.

He said: 'The dog was very weak when we found it, because its neck must have been stuck in the wheel rim for several hours. We are letting it rest and observing its condition. The resident who found it said he would take it to the vet.'
