On April 2, in Xi’an, Shaanxi, Ms. Shi’s hydrogen balloon gradually lost its buoyancy due to a gas leak. She planned to take it downstairs for disposal.

As she popped the balloon and reached for the door handle, a sudden flash explosion occurred, engulfing her head in flames.

Ms. Shi's hair and face were briefly exposed to the fire. In a panic, she quickly removed her coat. Fortunately, she only suffered singed hair and was otherwise unharmed.

She suspects that after tearing open the hydrogen balloon, friction between her coat and the metal door handle generated static electricity, which ignited the hydrogen gas, causing the explosion.
