Severe flooding struck downtown Cincinnati on April 6, 2025, as the Ohio River rose to moderate flood levels for the first time in four years, according to Cincinnati.com.

Sara Elyse’s images capture the dramatic scene near Great American Ball Park (GABP), with floodwaters submerging Mehring Way — a road notorious for closures during high water events, as reported by WKRC in 2019.

The flood also impacted the area around Paycor Stadium, where the Bengals’ player parking lot was inundated as the river crested at 60 feet, Sports Illustrated reported. A Tesla Cybertruck, recognizable by its distinctive angular frame, was spotted partially submerged in the water, a striking visual symbol of the natural disaster’s reach.

In a futuristic twist, a small robot — believed to be a Wave Glider from Liquid Robotics — was seen navigating the flooded area, highlighting the growing role of autonomous technology in monitoring extreme weather conditions.

Flood gates were installed downtown to protect critical infrastructure, including Fort Washington Way, as parts of the East End were hit hardest.
