The sole survivor of the devastating Air India crash, British national Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, reunited with family friends on Wednesday after being discharged from hospital — just in time to attend his brother’s funeral.

Heart-wrenching footage shows 40-year-old Vishwash, his face still covered in bandages, meeting grieving relatives in Gujarat. Despite his injuries, he later helped carry the casket of his younger brother Ajay during an emotional ceremony.

The funeral took place just days after the June 12 disaster, in which Air India Flight AI-171 crashed minutes after takeoff, killing 241 people on board and at least 38 more on the ground.

Vishwash, who was seated in 11A, managed to escape the burning Boeing 787 Dreamliner seconds before it was engulfed in flames.

The plane had departed Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at 1:17 pm local time and was airborne by 1:38 pm, heading toward London Gatwick. But within moments, it lost all power and plunged into a densely populated residential area in Ahmedabad.

The aircraft crashed into the doctors’ hostel of BJ Medical College, triggering a massive explosion that sent smoke, fire and debris high into the sky. The site resembled a war zone in the aftermath, with emergency crews scrambling through the wreckage.

Authorities have launched a full investigation into what caused the fatal crash.
