From April 11 to 13, due to a cold vortex system originating from Mongolia, northern China is experiencing an unusually widespread and persistent severe wind event — a rare occurrence for this time of year — with wind speeds reaching up to 150 km/h.

On April 12, in Xinyang, Henan Province, a girl was struck and pinned to the ground by a flying sheet of metal while walking outside during the strong winds. She was unable to move. A passerby quickly rushed over to help. Despite being knocked down by the wind himself, he got back up and managed to lift one side of the metal sheet, allowing the girl to crawl out safely. Moments later, as both the girl and the good Samaritan stood up, the sheet was blown away by the wind.

According to the Henan Meteorological Observatory, extremely strong winds hit the province on the night of April 11, with gusts reaching Force 15 on the Beaufort scale. The strong winds are expected to continue through April 12.
