State workers cleared roads after a powerful ice storm in Michigan.

Aerial footage shows widespread damage in a red pine plantation in Pigeon River Country caused by the freak weather that lasted two days, starting on March 30.

Trees coated in heavy ice snapped under the weight, while many treetops broke off and fell, leaving behind bare, stick-like trunks.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources Incident Management Team was deployed in response, working alongside the Michigan National Guard and other partners to ensure public safety.

Response teams have already cleared more than 630 miles of roads and restored access to 34 communications towers.

Recovery efforts are ongoing to restore normal conditions in the area following the severe weather event.
