Thousands Rally for Trans Rights After Supreme Court Ruling

Thousands of people have gathered in central London to protest a major Supreme Court decision about the legal definition of the word "woman." The court ruled that under the Equality Act, “woman” and “sex” mean someone who is biologically female, even if a trans woman has a gender recognition certificate.

The ruling means trans women can legally be excluded from certain women-only spaces, like changing rooms or shelters, if it’s considered appropriate and necessary.

In response, trans rights groups, unions, and community organisations quickly organised what they’re calling an “emergency protest” in Parliament Square. The turnout was big — with crowds demanding change and making their voices heard just days after the ruling.
