Anti-immigration protesters gather outside of the Britannia Hotel in Canary Wharf for a second day of protests

Police were called for a second night of protests outside the Britannia International Hotel in Canary Wharf, where asylum seekers are set to be housed. The protests follow similar unrest in Epping, where a different hotel believed to be housing migrants saw violent disorder. Five men have been charged and Essex Police issued a dispersal order to prevent further trouble. Local MP Apsana Begum said refugees are welcome in her constituency and condemned the far right, while Reform UK’s Lee Anderson criticised the use of hotels for migrants in a video filmed at the scene.
